Friday Food Review
So this morning I had my first Krispy Kreme donut. I'm not sure it lives up to the hype. They seemed a little too... marshmallowey. Maybe its because they were promotional donuts, and they weren't fresh from the oven. I'll have to make a second assessment, I guess.

Like a kid in a candy store... an eye candy store...
Countdown to E3 is on, and I just can't wait. Now that Half-life 2 is out of the bag, and Deus Ex: The Invisible War just around the corner, I think its going to be real exciting. Too bad I'm not anywhere near the show itself; I'll just have to live vicariously through the fine folks at GameSpy. And buy a new PC. And find the time to finish Metroid Prime, OOT and Z:Wind Waker. And sleep, I guess.

And the award for most fuddled technology goes to...
Web browsers. I've never been fond of Web technologies. I love the Internet, but all this web crap just makes me want to puke. Today's aggravation: CSS. Or maybe the whole DHTML thing. Or maybe the makers of the browsers that make following standards impossible. I mean, look at CSS. Good idea, but how is this really useful when half the properties can't be inherited, and some tags (i.e. forms) don't seem to inherit anything!? Why do people want to move things online anyway? Sure, update things a little, move away from ye-olde-telnete, but why choose the Web technologies? I just don't get it. There are much better ways you can offload apps than cramming it into Horrendous Text Markup Language. Rant over.

Are we there yet?
Maybe today will be the day I can put it behind me. I doubt it, but it sure would be nice to arrive at that place where software runs the way its intended to, where library calls work as documented, where the logical solution is the solution that actually works. Maybe today.
In other less depressing news, I've decided to start playing chess. I'm only playing against the PC (gnuchess, to be exact) and I'm really not good at all, but maybe over time it will help me keep my brain from shrinking.
